Felty returned to Wolf Trap Opera in 2024 to portray Emily Dickinson
"Imagine being in the writing room of the enigmatic Emily Dickinson as she explores nature, life, death, and eternity leading up to the final hours of her life. This theatrical performance and US premiere features the poetry of Emily Dickinson set by two American icons of song repertoire, Aaron Copland and Ricky Ian Gordon. Created by pianist Christopher Allen and directed by Wolf Trap Opera alumnus Johnathan McCullough."
"Kathleen Felty made a most impressive Haymarket debut in the trousers role of Andronico, Asteria’s perpetually flummoxed lover. The mezzo’s voice has a contralto-like depth yet Felty brought great flexibility to her showy arias as well as expressive sensitivity to “Bella Asteria” and “Benche mi sprezzi.”
Her natural, understated acting made Andronico the most rounded and believable character onstage."
